W. Hill Evans began practicing law in 1981 after receiving his BA from Wake Forest University and his JD from the Wake Forest University School of Law. A native of Marion, Hill continues to serve in numerous leadership positions throughout McDowell County. He is a member of the McDowell County Bar Association and is licensed to practice in North Carolina state courts.
Ellen M. Shelley is a native of Greenwood, SC, who received her BA from the University of South Carolina and her JD from Cumberland School of Law in Birmingham, Alabama. Ellen served as student body president and a director of Cumberland's trial advocacy board in law school, and works primarily with criminal, real estate and civil litigation matters. She is a member of the McDowell County Bar Association and is licensed to practice in North Carolina state courts.
Wesley R. Shelley is a native of Raleigh, NC, and graduated from the University of South Carolina undergraduate and the University of Mississippi School of Law. He served as a founding member and senior articles editor of the Mississippi Sports Law Review, and his articles have been published in multiple law journals across the country. Wes served as a volunteer clerk for Judge Robert C. Hunter at the North Carolina Court of Appeals before joining W. Hill Evans, PA. He is a member of the McDowell County Bar Association and is licensed to practice in North Carolina state courts.
Ruth C. Willis began working with the firm in July 1965, and has remained with the firm ever since. Ruth is an NC Certified Paralegal and has worked on countless wills and estates, as well as various other matters over the years.
Fay B. Wright has more than 20 years of experience with the firm, primarily with the firm's Real Estate practice. Fay is an NC Licensed Realtor, NC Certified Paralegal, and executive board member of the McDowell County Realty Association.
Kathy Pool has spent her career in a multitude of legal arenas, previously working for the McDowell County Sheriff's Department before joining W. Hill Evans, PA. Kathy assists in all of the firm's practice areas, from real estate to criminal and civil litigation matters.
Melissa Miller initially worked with W. Hill Evans, PA, from June 1995 to November 1998, prior to working with the Dameron, Burgin, Parker, Jackson, Wilde & Walker firm for more than 14 years. Since her return to W. Hill Evans, PA in June 2014 she assists attorneys of our practice in Real Estate, Criminal, Civil, Domestic and Estates. Melissa is an NC Certified Paralegal and enjoys interacting with clients.
